Cristina Coco Photography bio picture

Welcome!

Thanks for finding my photography journal!  My name is Cristina Coco and I am a portrait photographer in the Westchester and Fairfield County area.

I love what I do.  I love what I do so much I left a very cool, high paced, world-traveling job in fashion to photograph kids. I know, I know, I must be nuts, right?  Well I hope this blog will give you an insight into why I left what some might call a dream job to run after a bunch of munchkins with my camera.

You'll notice that a lot of my images capture those kiddies looking straight at me, straight through the lens.  That is the shot I aim for at every session I do.  I love that moment when everything else fades away and that child really sees me.  Only a kid can naturally look at you like that - most adults can seem posed or even look away in embarrassment.  A child can look straight through you and capturing that moment for parents - that look that they know so well? Well, that is why I love to do this so much.

So enjoy my little neck of the web - I hope that it helps you get to know me a little better and makes you comfortable about choosing me to capture your memories.

Last day on Cape Cod…

I am kind of blue today. It’s my last full day on Cape Cod and I always get sad when I leave. Don’t get me wrong, I love NY and all my friends and family – I miss them a ton! There is just something about this place that brings me a special kind of...

Happy After Ever… Kristen and Tom

About 8 months ago I get an email from my best friends sister asking me to photograph her wedding. My stock answer is “I don’t do weddings”, (I have a serious phobia of Bridezillas) but Kristen wouldn’t take no for an answer. After much hemming and hawing, I realized that I could slap her around...

a creative kick in the bum

I so needed this! I just got back from a workshop in Pittsburgh with the very talented Australian photographer Barb Uil, otherwise known as Jinky Art.  She is AMAZINGLY talented – just oozes with ideas and creativity.  Her work makes my heart sing (her words for something else, but I found it so appropriate when...

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. {Cristina Coco Westchester Maternity Photographer}

I’ve photographed my dear friend Melissa before.  (Photographer playdate) She’s my local photographer buddy – the one I call when I need someone to listen to me vent about business, a new lens, a problem with photoshop…  she kinda gets what I mean and she is a GREAT sounding board.  I’m so lucky to have...

Sample session

I wanted to share what a basic family session with me looks like.  I had this session a week or so ago and seeing it’s at my favorite location and a beautiful family I thought it would be a good one to share! Custom portrait photography is much different than your average simple studio session. ...

Giving is Awesome – The Russo Family

After a great year with my business, I decide to run a little contest in December to give something special to a family who might need a little pick me up.  I didn’t have a lot of rules, I just asked that people nominate someone they thought could use a little joy in their lives,...

happy birthday grandpa

This week is always a busy one with my family.  My brother, Grandfather and I all have birthdays four days apart.  Needless to say, it’s one birthday dinner after another (stemming back from my brother and I getting equal celebrations as kids – nice job Mom!) and by the end of the week we’re all...

just because

Just because you eat rigatoni by putting them on your fingers and eating them one by one. Just because you can’t just give a little hug, it’s got to be a really big one and usually with a running start. Just because you say thank you without me having to remind you. Just because you...

Magnolia

Every year in April I start looking out my kitchen window and wait for my yearly sign of warm weather.  Not just spring, but of a hope of summer days at the beach and late nights on the patio drinking wine with my husband as he smokes a cigar.  Crickets chirping, kids playing outside, fireflies...
